IPM school and workshop on recent developments in
Particle Physics (IPP11)
School of Physics, IPM, Tehran, Iran
4-7 September, 2011
(13-16 Shahrivar, 1390)

  A new and very exciting era in the field of particle physics is about to be ushered in by the LHC experiment at CERN. LHC has already released its preliminary data. On the other hand, the data from B-factories indicate hints for new physics. Data from neutrino experiments show conclusive evidence for flavor violation. Results from new neutrino experiments, such as ICECUBE are underway which might reveal even more unexpected properties for neutrinos. From theoretical point of view, there are various classes of models that can be tested by these experiments. The aim of this meeting is to make the graduate students familiar with some of the mainstream topics in the field of particle physics.

Topics covered in this meeting include

·         Deep inelastic scattering and parton distribution functions;

·         Neutrino physics;

·         Supersymmetry;

·         LHC physics;

·         Flavor physics.

The meeting will start with a three day school. The lectures in the school will be either in Farsi or in English. The school will follow with a one-day workshop. Talks at the workshop will be in English. The meeting will end with a student session in which students who are interested can give a short talk. The students can choose to give their talks either in Farsi or in English. The details of the student session will be announced later.   The registration and accommodation fees for students who present a talk will be waived.  Graduate students in the field of high energy and particle physics from all over Iran are encouraged to participate.

 Application Deadline is August 5th, 2011.

Recommendation letter is not compulsory however  graduate students who  provide a reference letter  will have priority in selection. The recommendation letter should be sent to
