ISS2009 is the 8th in the series of a successful
Iranian string theory schools run by the IPM
(Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences)
in Tehran. The ISS series has been held in
various locations in Iran, including Isfahan,
Shiraz, by the Caspian sea-shore, in the Qeshm
Island of Persian Gulf and Tehran.
The
school will have two parts: pedagogical set of
mini-courses on the advanced topics of string
theory; and a workshop in the form of short
seminars on recent research of the participants.
At present we
envision that the pedagogical lectures will
cover the following topics:
-
Recent developments in using holographic
techniques to study QCD and condensed matter
systems.
-
Black hole physics.
-
Particle physics model bldg
within string theory, preparation for LHC.
-
Different
aspects of AdS/CFT correspondence.
-
String inspired models of
cosmology.
-
Generalised geometry of supergravity
solutions and solution generating
techniques.
