" The TWAS Young Scientist Prize" in physics in 2006 has gone to a physicist.

Each year about ten to twenty scientists in all disciplines in developing countries are selected to receive the TWAS Young Scientist Prize.
The prize is to promote research in the developing countries and is awarded to scientists under 40 who are living and working in the developing countries.
The eligible candidates are nominated by "awarding organizations" in the respective countries, which in Iran is Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST).
A committee of eminent scientists in the country, including TWAS members, where applicable, then select the prize winners.

This year M.M. Sheikh-Jabbari of School of Physics has received the prize.
